Neuro Affirming Autism Assessments
Sarah, as a Speech Pathologist and trained MIGDAS-2 assessor, is able to provide assessment and diagnosis of Autism. Sarah is a late diagnosed Autistic individual herself, so also brings lived experience to her assessments, in addition to formal training. Sarah is passionate about supporting girls and women, who are more likely to be misdiagnosed with poor mental health for years, before learning they are neurodivergent.
As outlined in the Autism CRC guidelines, Speech Pathologists are able to assess and diagnose Autism as part of a consensus team. This means that Sarah is able to provide one half of the dual diagnosis. Sarah can provide information regarding psychologists able to provide the second assessment, if required.
Sarah is hoping to provide an alternative approach to assessment and diagnosis, by tailoring the process to the individual. This means that a set price is not provided, as depending on the client and time taken to reach a conclusion, time spent may vary. Assessments include completion of questionnaires by the individual or family, as well as educators, were relevant, prior to the initial face to face session. Depending on the outcome of review of questionnaires and face to face session, a community based observation may be suggested. A comprehensive report will then be completed, with the outcome and provided to the client or their family. This price is capped at $1200.
